​​​​Elizabeth spent two years at the University of Texas, Austin, and is a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a B.A. in art history. She is a trained actress and singer. She was a work scholar at Esalen Institute taking seventy workshops in the mind-body area and healing arts. Elizabeth is a certified homeopath using the Bach Flower Remedies.

 

Elizabeth's paternal grandmother, Ruby Lee Dyess McElroy, was a still life painter, a graduate of U.C., Berkeley and won awards at county and state fairs for her art. She was, also, a gifted pianist. Elizabeth's maternal side had intuitive gifts, and her father, B. Thomas McElroy, Sr. was a published author of pre-trial procedure books for the state of Texas and had a love of writing.​
